The Cuaba cigar brand was first introduced in London in 1996. Cuaba was the first new Cuban cigar brand to be introduced into commercial cigar production since 1968.
The historical term Cuaba is a Taino Indian word for the special Cuban bush that was used on the island to light the "Cohiba" or "Tobacco".
All four of the Cuaba vitolas are of the figurado (perfecto) shape: the Exclusivos, the Generosos, the Tradicionales and the Divinos. This cigar shape was very popular in the early days. Habanos S.A. decided to revive the British tradition of smoking figurado cigars and therefor started unveiling the Cuaba cigar brand in London, England. Habanos, S.A. has since then reintroduced other historic Cuban cigar brands and cigar shapes.
Cuaba cigars are medium to full strength perfecto shaped cigars, using tobacco from the premium Vuelta Abajo, Pinar del Rio region in Cuba.
