Francisco Fonseca developed this Cuban cigar brand in 1906 and his picture still adorns the Fonseca cigar boxes today.
These Cuban cigars are only distributed in limited numbers. It's a Multi-Local Habanos brand with a minor market share.
The Fonseca cigar brand is considered to contain rich but mild cigar flavours and the tobacco leaves come from the premium Vuelta Abajo Region in Cuba.
After Fonseca's decease in 1930, his widow Doña Teresa Boetticher continued the successful Cuban cigar business with the counselling of specialists on the cigar market. Some time afterwards, Mrs. Boetticher decided to join the T. Castañeda and G. Montero's workshop. From this association was born the cigar enterprise Castañeda, Montero, Fonseca S.A, located in 466 Galiano Street, in Havana Cuba.
Since the last years, the Fonseca cigar production is made in the hand-made cigar factory in Quivicán, a small town in the Havana province, some kilometers from the Cuban capital.
The Fonseca brand is outstanding not only because of its cigar quality, but also because it is the only Cuban cigar presented in a silky paper wrap (fine and transparent).
The Fonseca cigars are commercialized mainly in Spain and Canada. There is also a non-Cuban cigar brand with the same name.
