The Quai d'Orsay cigar brand was created by the French multinational enterprise SEITA in the 70's as one of the post revolution brand and still is a Habanos local brand with a minor market share. These Cuban cigars are named after the Avenue D'orsay, in Paris, where the headquarters of the Ministry of Domestic Affairs are located together with the main office of the firm and the museum Gare D'orsay.

Quai D'orsai is now property of Cubatabaco, who bought it from SEITA 20 years later. Quai d'Orsay's tobacco is from the premium Cuban region of Vuelta Abajo, and it is a cigar brand created mainly for the French market.

Production of the Quai d'Orsay cigars stepped up in 2005 in an effort to re-establish the brand's status. Wrapper leaves for these cigars tend to be light colored and most of the vitolas are medium bodied with great combustion.

Besides France these Cuban Cigars are also commercialized in Canada, the Caribbean, Africa and the Middle East.
