Ramon Allones himself was the developer of this Cuban cigar brand way back in 1837. Allones was originally from Spain and owned the "La Eminencia" cigar factory. Prior to nationalization, this lighter-bodied Cuban cigar brand was owned by Cifuentes, Pego y Cia., also the owners of Partagas.

Ramon Allones started to produce his Cuban cigars at 129 Animas Street in Havana, Cuba. Ramon Allones is considered an innovator tobacconist, because he was the first to start using decoration of the cigar boxes' interior. Those bright colorful designs are part of the artistic patrimony and are loved by cigar collectors.

Ramon Allones also introduced the 8-9-8 format where his cuban cigars are displayed in three rows of eight, nine and eight units each. He was also the first to use cigar boxes of 25 cigars with different dimensions, which are irreplaceable in the Cuban tobacco trading.

In 1920 the Ramon Allones trademark was acquired by the Partagás proprietors, the Cifuentes family.

A Ramon Allones cigar is known as a strong cigar. Nowadays all vitolas are still handmade in the Partagas factory. Although these Cuban cigars follow the Partagás standards and formats to a great extent, Ramon Allones cigars have less strength.

The origins of Ramon Allones is a Habanos local cigar brand with a minor market share and uses tobacco from the premium Vuelta Abajo (Pinar del Río) Region in Cuba. Ramon Allones cigars are basically commercialized in Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, Great Britain, the Far East, Africa and the Middle East. There is a non-Cuban cigar brand with the same name.
