Cigar Review

The San Cristobal de la Habana Mercaderes cigars are named after a major street in Havana that used to be a bustling commercial center and meeting ground for tobacco merchants back in the early going of the nation's capital. Typical coffee flavors dominate this Hermoso No.1 cigar which in our opinion is leading among the 3 new releases for San Cristobal by some aficionados.

San Cristobal de la Habana is the latest brand and probably the last amongst the new series of Cuban cigars. Launched in 1996, San Cristobal de la Habana has been given the original name of the city of Havana, Cuba. When it was founded by settlers back in 1519 - San Cristobal (St. Christopher) de La Habana.

This Cuban cigar brand boasts four sizes, each of which is named after one of the fortresses that defended the city of Havana in its heyday as the hub of the Spanish empire in Latin America. Two of the San Cristóbal cigars, La Fuerza and El Morro, are entirely new Cuban cigars and are unique to the San Cristobal cigar brand.

Although San Cristóbal de la Habana was introduced to the Cuban cigar market just ten years ago, to celebrate the 480th anniversary of the foundation of the village San Cristóbal de La Habana, the cigars are preferred by some of the most demanding cigar smokers. These Cuban cigars are stored in 25 unit boxes, preserving the impeccable lithography, one of the treasures that distinguish the San Cristobal de la Habana brand.

San Cristobal de la Habana present light to Medium strength cigars using tobacco from the premium Vuelta Abajo region. They have only a minor market share from Habanos S.A.
