The Siboney cigar brand is one of the discontinued Cuban cigar brands. Siboney was a pre-revolution brand (of mini-cigarillos) that lapsed but was reintroduced in 1988. It was discontinued in 1996

America had the purpose of buying tobacco factories in Cuba and "El Soboney" was one of the 12 factories acquired between 1898 and 1902. This brand had a very small production and one anecdote is interesting about it. It was thought that, after the Revolution, Fidel Castro decided to eliminate all the Cuban cigar brands to found just one dedicated to exportations. The world did not like this new brand named Siboney and Castro was forced to reinstate all the popular brands as soon as possible. This never happened and has just been a popular rumour. Its taste is said to be similar to Montecristo Especial No.2 or even a bit stronger.

There is a non-Cuban cigar brand with the same name.
