Trinidad is a post-revolution Cuban cigar brand released in 1969, but the Trinidad cigars have only been commercially available since 1997. After 1980, the Trinidad Fundadores cigars have been produced exclusively for Fidel Castro. The only Cuban cigar boxes that left Cuba were gifts to foreign diplomats that loved a good Cuban cigar.

On February of 1998, this Cuban cigar brand was officially launched as an export product in the city of Trinidad, Cuba. Trinidad is named after one of Cuba's most beautiful cities, the Trinidad cigar is produced only in the El Laguito cigar factory, and packaged in an 'unusual' quantity of 24 cigars as well as in cabinets of 50 cigars.

The Trinidad Fundadores vitola was a non-existent format in other Habanos trademarks. These Cuban cigars keep the elegance and stately bearing of Trinidad village, one of the first towns founded in Cuba. The mysterious mixture of middle strength Cuban cigars, have been created by the most experienced master cigar rollers from the "El Laguito" factory.

Trinidad is a Habanos SA niche brand with a significant share in the Cuban cigar market. There is also non-Cuban cigar brand with the same name and even a pre-revolution cigar was named "La Trinidad" as well.
